Between half the office being in New York City for some... thing, or event of some kind, and me getting a missive head cold that floored me at different points last week, let's just say I wasn't totally productive (obviously, since I didn't post last week. Oy!). But, the office is back to it's normal hustle and bustle, and I did get a couple of things finally out the door and a couple more things on my desk that are just shy of completion.
Before I get to all that, I want to do a little bit of promotion for my fellow [P5] folks.
Ultrasylvania? What's that?
Well, it's a project that Matt Harding and Ed Edgerson, Jr., fellow [P5] creators, along with their classmates at the Collaborative Comic class at the Academy of Art University, have been working on for a little more than a year now. What started as a webcomic project where the students worked on the pages from a script by their instructors, is now a full-blown graphic novel that has just debuted at New York City Comic Con AND The Alternative Press Expo here in SF. It's kind od an amazing little thing they put together, with all kinds of crazy monsters, alternative history and speculative fiction, adventure and romance, robots and laser swords! Well, maybe not the robots and laser swords, but it's still awesome. Check it out online.
Also, check them out at a signing for the book at the fancy new Trickster store in Berkeley on Friday evening. You can buy the book there and get them all to sign and, if you're an artist as well, bring your sketchbook as there will also be a drawing workshop with models there throughout the evening Should be great fun!
OK, back to me!
Actually, while I was stuck home sick and missing all the wonderfulness that The Alternative Press Expo had to offer last weekend, I finished a drawing of the BPRD for Matt, in the hopes that I would get well enough to trade it for his rendition of the Guardians of the Globe. Dunno if he did his part yet (MATT!), but here's mine for all of y'all to see.
I'm pretty happy with the result. Since I still have it in my possession, I might add in a little background just to give it all some depth. I'll probably post another if the final is significantly different from this one.
Next, I did some random monster girls for a meme on Facebook. These were also mostly warmup for getting to color a poster I'm almost done with for a horror festival in the city. That is coming soon, but for now:
And there you have it. My week in a nutshell. Will be back next week (pinky swear) with more! Be good you crazy kids!
